Where can I find one button machine that makes different size buttons? That’s a questions we get asked almost on a daily basis; sometimes twice in one day. So why don’t we just make one? There are actually a few very good reasons. Allow me to share with you some quality insider information.
First, all machines that incorporate the ability to change dies are manufactured in China and do not conform to industry standard sized buttons found in the USA.
Second, the die is the most expensive part of any button machine. So if your goal is to save money, interchangeable die will not be the bargain you seek. The best answer is to invest in the guaranteed highest quality button makers so you have little down time and more finished buttons.
Third, let’s say you have a button machine with two different die sizes – 1” and 2.25” (the most popular sizes). What happens if you’re going along, making 1” buttons and, horror of horrors, something breaks on the machine? Do you now have the ability to switch and make 2.25” buttons? Nope, you do not. You’re dead in the water until you get the machine repaired.
Fourth, is what I call the “More, more, more principle” – having two machines means you can have a partner making buttons with you, thereby, doubling your output in the half the time. More buttons, finished more quickly, equals more money in your pocket.
Until next time, Happy Button Making!
